I know this wcag article is about scaling text on screen, but we are curious if Storyline or captivate (the classic not the “new” version) can do this. In accordance with “WCAG 2.1 - SC 1.4.4 Resize Text,” my client wants closed caption in my articulate storyline projects to be adjustable based on user preference. possesses this ability.
You may achieve the trick in Storyline by adding layers with subtitles, each with a variable size of subtitle. You can add a button to increase or reduce the layer that sits on top of the base layer. It’s a lot of work because you have to manually coordinate text and video, but I believe it will do the trick.
But there are no native choices in Articulate.
@Averitt Thanks. This might be what we want to go with.
In my experience working with e-learning tools, I’ve found that the classic versions of Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate don’t natively support text resizing in closed captions as required by WCAG 2.1 - SC 1.4.4. While Storyline offers some customization options for captions, it doesn’t allow users to adjust text size based on their preferences. Similarly, Captivate’s older versions have limited flexibility with caption text size. To meet accessibility standards, you might need to explore third-party solutions or consider updating to more recent versions of these tools that offer improved accessibility features.
