Is an MBA better than an M Tech/MS if I want to go into Quant Finance?

Qualifications: B. Tech. β€˜23 from a tier 3 university, CSE with specialization in AI & ML, currently working at an MNC with a package of around 9 LPA in hand

I am currently working as a developer. In the future I want to go into Quant Finance. Considering the fact that companies for these roles only look at graduates from the top institutes like IITs, should I be preparing for my GATE/go for my MS in the US, or should I rather pursue an MBA from a top institute like IIM since I already have an educational background in Machine Learning?

Quant roles are usually offered to IIT Btechs not MTech

MS … mba is not for quant finance … in quant finance you deal with hard core mathematics like stochastic calculus, linear algebra etc .

Check ISI Kolkata. Their curriculum is based on stats and maths.

What are the requirements? Aren’t they required to have a math degree?

Nope. Your best bet would be MSQE ISI Kolkata, or FME from Abroad.

Quant as the name suggests is mostly math and stats.Mba is irrelevant there.

A Mtech will probably get you into a quant shop, but the chances of becoming a trader/researcher is next to nil unless you publish something groundbreaking paper in relevant fields.Mtechs mostly get Dev roles where you get to work on low latency systems which requires absolute mastery over c++ ,OS and multithreading.
