Discussion - Is Skillshare worth it?

Has anyone else noticed that Skillshare seems to excel more in marketing than in teaching? What are your thoughts on their approach to online learning compared to other platforms like Coursera or Udemy? Is it worth it? Your opinion matters.

It felt incomplete to me. Much of it was of lower quality than what you could get for free on YouTube, and the user interface was confusing. It might be worthwhile to take a school offered by a certain artist you adore, but after paying for a year, I regretted my decision.

Skillshare focuses on short, creative courses, which can be great for quick learning but might lack depth compared to more comprehensive platforms like Coursera or Udemy. Coursera, for example, partners with universities and offers more structured, academic courses, often with certifications. Udemy, on the other hand, provides a vast range of courses on various topics, allowing instructors to create detailed and extensive content.

In conclusion, if you want to learn creative skills quickly and enjoy a community-driven platform, Skillshare could be a good fit.

Skillshare has several excellent classes, and if you have a library card, you may be able to use it to receive a free one-year membership, depending on where you live.
