Advice Needed... how can I apply my skills to create educational content?

Hi everyone, I’m a former curriculum developer and teacher trainer who really loves creating engaging educational content. My goal isn’t to be a classroom teacher but rather a content creator who provides tools and resources that spark curiosity and critical thinking in learners and educators alike. A bit about my background: I’ve developed and programmed an e-learning engine, created video lessons, written tutorials, and made supporting artwork. I’ve trained teachers to use curricula I created in subjects like horticulture, AI and robotics, video game design, animation, and music video production. My strengths lie in finding connections between different subjects and presenting them in engaging ways. I’ve also spent years looking into homeschooling and unschooling approaches, and I want to incorporate those perspectives into my work. I’m open to creating content in various formats—videos, comics, games, ARGs, AI tools, e-learning platforms, or even hybrid ideas I haven’t thought of yet. My ideal audience ranges from preschoolers to adults, and I’m especially interested in cross-disciplinary subjects that promote critical thinking. I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the possibilities, and I’d love to know what educators and learners would find most useful in terms of tools, resources, or approaches. What gaps do you see in educational content today? I’m not aiming to create a massive project right now; instead, I want to ease back into the field, maybe by collaborating with an educator, working with a company, or starting something on my own. I’d really appreciate any thoughts, advice, or stories about how you tackle similar challenges. What directions or ideas would you suggest for someone with my skills and goals? Thanks in advance for your insights.

I feel you on the overwhelm. Maybe focus on one or two areas first and see how it goes. What do you think?

I love that you’re considering alternative education methods. Have you thought about writing articles or blogs to share your insights?
