I’m working with a vendor who created a SCORM file (I think they coded it themselves, not using a common authoring tool) and it’s not working in Workday Learning or SCORM Cloud. It’s a bit small, just over 500 bytes. I’m curious why it works in their LMS, Moodle, but not anywhere else. Any insights would be super helpful…
The fact that the SCORM package is only 500 bytes suggests that there’s no actual content included, just a link to content on the vendor’s server. It might be that a restriction on their side is blocking access for unauthorized domains.

Oh this makes sense!! I noticed some URLs in the XML file so this would explain it.
First, 500 bytes is not small :). Check if there’s an imsmanifest.xml file in the package. That defines the SCORM version and other entry points. Maybe they coded this as a standard HTML package but not SCORM. Hard to say without looking at the full package but start with imsmanifest.xml.

Oops, I meant bytes! Updated my post to reflect that. Thanks for sharing this article. From glancing at the files and the XML, there might be some coding missing to direct to the right files.
Could be they are just sharing the XML file and not the full folder, which might be on their local server and working in Moodle. Not sure—happy to help if you want to troubleshoot!

P.S: Are SCORM still the best way for training the workforce?
Could be a few different things. There are many versions of SCORM. Do you know what version they are using? Are they using one that isn’t supported by your LMS?

I did test it in SCORM Cloud and it didn’t work there either. Looking at the XML coding, it’s a SCORM version that works with our LMS.
