Where to find tech and software companies in need of an LMS

Hey, OnlineLearning community, I’m an entrepreneur working on a new LMS platform. I’m looking to target tech and software companies in need or searching for a learning management system. Any advice on how I can find and reach out to these types of companies would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

ANOTHER new one? There are hundreds already.

What problem are you aiming to solve for these companies? What unique needs to do they have that the current market doesn’t already solve and you can fill?

If you cannot answer this question, nothing else matters. If you CAN answer this question, that common need/problem that these companies have will lead you to the marketing approach you should take.

Bingo - if a software company wants customizations there are open source options available to them. Additionally an LMS is useless without content, so unless you offer integrations/partnerships you’re only solving half the problem

You said it! I lead my team 12 months building a LMS from ground up. Then spent another 12 months just adding all the damn content!!! I feel incredibly lucky that we obtained an ongoing service contract after the first 12 months because they saw the value with the limited sample data we had to demo the system.

But to add to what you said, why build something before you have any clients? It’s 100% guessing what the client actually needs and to think that you magically fill a market gap is wishful thinking at best.

I’ve been looking at the reviews of many LMS, and I realize that a lot of people struggle with the lack of customization current LMSs have. And also the fact that many of them do not allow you to upload your own content to teach your employees, and you have to choose from a limited amount of resources.

That’s why I thought that maybe creating an LMS that fixes those problems may be useful. But I struggle to find tech & software founders to present my idea and validate it.

Current LMS and LXP market is bloated as shit because of the total addressable market size. But, Hey, do not get discouraged with the other comments. There are plenty of opportunities in LMS space, and I hope you find a niche. If 100 LMS could coexist, so does 101th. LMS administrators are slow to adopt newer tech. They are stuck with scorm and off the shelf content. Share your thoughts and research, and some of us will chime in.

Sorry I don’t have anything more concrete, but you may be better served looking around customer acquisition strategies, lead generation, marketing strategy type of areas. They’ll have more pointed info on finding customers for you.
