I was talking to my friends who recently joined their company and realized some concerning trends about corporate training:
Companies don’t actually care about their employees’ learning and it often feels like a formality.
Employees often view training as a formality as well, just sitting through it to pass tests, if any.
I’m interested in understanding the extent of this phenomenon based on company demographics like size and industry. What types of companies genuinely invest in employee learning?
It’s true that corporate training can feel like a formality, but there are companies that genuinely invest in employee learning. Typically, large companies and those in industries like tech, finance, healthcare, and consulting prioritize learning. Companies focused on innovation understand that continuous learning improves productivity and retention.
In my experience, there are two distinct environments. Specialized organizations (like airlines and NASA) motivate employees to stay current for specific duties, while others offer educational benefits for personal improvement and compliance.
