I’m looking for better tools for testing and quality assurance of eLearning content after it has been created and inserted into an LMS. Currently, we use an Excel sheet, but it’s becoming too clunky and doesn’t offer the functionality we need.
I’m searching for a service or product that allows for detailed testing after the course is live in the LMS. Specifically, I’m interested in tools that provide features similar to Review360, such as:
Ability to take screenshots of the section where the issue is.
Options to add comments or annotations directly on the content.
Any recommendations for tools or platforms that fit this description would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
The ideal solution is to finish the QA testing prior to uploading it to the LMS. Once it gets to the LMS, the only testing happening should really be that it works in the LMS.
Are you already doing alpha and beta testing in Review? Are people actually providing feedback then? Why aren’t you getting feedback until it’s in the LMS? Have you set clear expectations with your reviewers about what feedback to provide at each round? Is there a clear cutoff of “no content changes will be accepted after the beta review; only fixes if something is broken”?
Once you review the issues in your overall process, you will probably find that the Excel sheet is OK. You shouldn’t be running into so many functional issues where things are broken once it’s in the LMS.
If you do have a lot of functional issues in the LMS, it’s again worth spending time to troubleshoot and figure out why. Is there an underlying reason that your courses regularly break in the LMS? Can you fix whatever that problem is?
If all of that is done and you still need more than a spreadsheet, check out tools for web reviews. I’ve used Pastel for collecting feedback on HTML content that can’t be reviewed with Review 360. Pastel works with basically any link to a website. There are a lot of website review tools out there though, so look around and see what might work for your specific situation.
Testing eLearning content in an LMS involves various tools and methods to ensure quality. Key tests include functional testing to check software features, performance testing under heavy usage, and accessibility testing for all learners. Tools like Testsigma, Selenium, and TestComplete automate testing processes, speeding up checks for compatibility, usability, and security across devices. Testing guarantees a smooth, inclusive, and effective learning experience.
