Reviews on learnworlds vs teachable

I’m in the process of migrating over 50,000 course students to a new platform and have narrowed down my choices to Teachable, Thinkific, and LearnWorlds. Does anyone have experience with these platforms?

Here’s what I’m NOT looking for:

  • Email marketing, as I already have my own newsletter.
  • Landing page creation, since I already have my own landing page.

Must-haves:

  • Low fees (EDIT)
  • Coupon functionality
  • Certificates issuance
  • Affiliate marketing support

Nice to have:

  • Ability for affiliates to self-sign up via a link
  • Automatic payouts for affiliates
  • One-click checkout experience
  • Instalment options for high-priced courses
  • VAT handling
  • Group invite feature for organizations
  • Purchasing power parity to offer automatic discounts to students in third-world countries
  • Automatic video transcripts
  • Video dubbing for multi-language support
  • Ebook integration, with the option to read directly within the platform
  • Ebook generation using markdown

There’s one crucial requirement:

I need to sell a two-tiered course structure. Essentially, there are two courses, A and B, where course B follows course A in a linear learning experience. It should be possible to purchase course A without course B, but not the reverse. So, in the end, there should be three options for a student:

  1. Purchase only course A for $200
  2. Purchase both course A and B for $400
  3. Purchase course A for $200 and upgrade to the full bundle by paying the difference of $200

I believe the latter may only be feasible in Thinkific with their “Create private & hidden courses” and “Bundle with courses” features, but I’m unsure.

I’m eagerly awaiting your advice on this matter!

Migrating 50k students? That’s a big move! Picking a platform: Teachable, Thinkific, or LearnWorlds?

You really don’t need their email or landing pages (good call!). Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Fees: Teachable/Thinkific might be cheaper starting out, but LearnWorlds could be better for your student volume in the long run.
  • Must-Haves (all 3 have): Coupons, certificates, affiliate marketing.
  • Nice-to-haves: LearnWorlds might be best for automatic affiliate signup, PPP discounts, and fancy content features (transcripts, dubbing, ebooks).
  • Two-Tiered Courses (A then B): Test Thinkific (“hidden courses”) and LearnWorlds (prerequisites) during your free trials.

There is No single perfect platform just try them all and see which fits your needs best!

Take advantage of Thinkific’s free trial to see whether it can meet your unique demands for course organization. If it effectively satisfies your needs, it’s probably the ideal platform for your relocation.
