Hello all I am looking for an open source LMS for building certain self-paced training within my company. I need a few features, like a training structure that goes from Course Topic to Modules and then to Sub-modules or content. A dashboard for all types of users with required metrics would be great, and gamification is definitely a plus. User management is key too, especially integration with a third-party internal auth provider like Okta. I’m thinking about a user structure that includes Super Admins, Teams or Sub-teams Managers, and Users or Learners. Also, I need something that can manage training assignments and reporting, like showing how many users completed Topic-01. Customizability is important as well. Any pointers would be appreciated. I’ve read about a few options like OpenEDX and Moodle, but I’m not sure if they work for corporate-style self-paced training…
Hey, have you looked into Moodle? It’s pretty flexible and has a lot of plugins to customize it for corporate needs.

Yeah, I’ve heard good things about Moodle. But how easy is it to set up for new users?
@Afton
It’s doable, but there’s a bit of a learning curve for sure. Definitely worth it if you want custom features.
OpenEDX is another solid choice. It’s designed for more structured courses and can handle corporate training pretty well.

I’ve used OpenEDX before, but setting it up took some time. Did you find it user-friendly?
@oliviamartin
Once it’s set up, the user experience is great. Just the initial setup can be tricky.
You might want to consider tools like TalentLMS. It’s not open source, but it’s super user-friendly and has great reporting features.

What do you mean by user-friendly? Like, is it easy to navigate?
@TomHenry
Exactly! It’s intuitive, so users can find what they need without getting lost in menus.
I think you should also look into Chamilo. It’s quite customizable and offers a lot of features for corporate training.

How does it compare to Moodle in terms of features?
@Evans
Chamilo has some similar features, but it’s generally easier to customize right out of the box.
I’ve been using a combination of tools. For reporting, nothing beats a good analytics tool to track user progress.

What analytics tool do you recommend?

Google Analytics can be integrated with most LMSs for tracking user engagement and progress.
