He wants us to use it during our computer-based training.
To me, it appears to be a means to provide learners with short chunks of what we teach, such as a single learning objective, on their own time rather than within a course.
Am I incorrect about this? I can tell my employer that we already utilise it in our training, but he may be thinking about Chunking when he mentions microlearning. I guess I need to chat to my employer instead of just reading his email to get what he wants.
How do you use microlearning?

It appears that your employer read a buzzword but does not understand the right use case. The best bet is to demonstrate how and where you already use micro learning, and then ask specifically what they want in contrast.
I had a similar situation where I was unsure about the difference between microlearning and chunking in training. From my experience, microlearning often involves delivering content in small, focused segments that learners can access on their own time, which sounds like what you’re describing. Chunking, on the other hand, is about breaking down information into manageable pieces, but it’s usually done within the course structure. I found that having a direct conversation with my employer clarified what they meant and helped me align our existing practices with their expectations. It’s always a good idea to discuss their vision to ensure you’re on the same page.
