LXP Implementation Time

My company is considering getting a Learning Experience Platform (LXP). Our vendor is saying the implementation will take 12 weeks, but that seems aggressive to me since I only have LMS implementation experience. For those who have implemented an LXP, how long did it take?

That sounds aggressive. It really depends on the scale, integrations, and content. In my experience with both LMS and LXP implementations in larger organizations, it usually takes at least 6 months. If you’re starting from scratch with little content, the rollout pace also depends heavily on your change management and communication strategies.

That aligns with what I was thinking, thank you! My management looked at me like I was insane when I said it’d probably be closer to 6 months, so I’m glad I’m not totally crazy. Though I probably will be after this project!

I’ve seen LXPs implemented in as little as 8 weeks, but that was a very simple rollout with minimal integration. For a full-scale implementation, 6 months seems much more realistic.

It all comes down to how prepared your organization is. If you have a solid plan and content ready, you might be able to accelerate the timeline. But don’t rush it!
