In the market for a simple, stripped down LMS

Hello,

I need to deliver e-learning to many retail employees (6000+). I don’t need any social/collaboration features. I need to pump the content towards the stores and receive some reporting. Browsing the market, it seems most LMS nowadays focus on offering additional functionality like comments, forums, and so on. The point is: I don’t need any of that. I know, that for some (or even most) target groups these features are great and valuable, just not for mine.

Which very simple, one might say bare bones LMS can you recommend?

I appreciate any input.

It goes without saying, but avoid Cornerstone as much as possible.

I second the idea of getting Moodle setup by a pro, with the basic functionality you need. Deploying training to 6000 people is not something that comes without a budget attached. Spend that money on the Moodle dev and then you don’t have to worry about how many learners you have.

If you don’t mind an unmanaged solution, then have a look at OpenOLAT. It’s not stripped down, but it’s modular and might suit your needs.

Consider Wordpress LMS plugins like LearnDash or LifterLMS. They have the basics you need and allow for customization.

Thank you for your answer. The thing with having bells and whistles that can be turned off is that you still pay for the bells and whistles. Do you know a LMS that doesn’t have them at all?

I’d say look at a Moodle supplier that can just sell the barebones.

Look into Absorb. Simple and easy.

Exceed by Intellum is minimalist with some modern UX elements. Best LMS I ever worked with.

Check out EdApp. It’s mobile-based and has helped retail staff achieve high completion rates.
